IndyVet’s Critical Care Unit is designed to provide around-the-clock support for patients facing life-threatening illness, trauma, or complex medical conditions.
When every second matters, our highly trained Critical Care team delivers rapid diagnostics, procedural interventions, and specialized therapies to stabilize critically ill pets and provide them with the best possible chance for recovery.
Under the leadership of Dr. Martindale, our Critical Care Unit is supported by a compassionate and highly skilled team of certified veterinary technicians dedicated to emergency and critical care medicine.
IndyVet is proud to have two Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS) in Emergency and Critical Care who provide advanced nursing care and expert patient monitoring throughout every stage of hospitalization. From severe trauma and sepsis to respiratory compromise and cardiovascular instability, our team is equipped to manage the most complex and challenging cases.
Our Critical Care team partners closely with IndyVet’s emergency and specialty services to deliver seamless, comprehensive support for every hospitalized patient.
This collaborative approach ensures exceptional care for individuals undergoing routine procedures or hospitalizations who also have significant pre‑existing medical conditions, such as heart disease, severe GI disease, clotting disorders, or severe endocrine disturbances. The Critical Care team frequently assists with pre- and post-operative care for patients facing complex surgeries, including airway surgery, septic peritonitis, gallbladder procedures, open‑chest interventions, and more. Together, we provide the elevated, continuous oversight that helps patients recover safely and comfortably.
