Indianapolis Veterinary Emergency Center is a fast-paced 24-hour emergency, critical care, and referral practice for small animals. Our building is a recently renovated 22,000 sq ft facility. The owner, Dr. James Speiser is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners designated as a Specialist, Companion Animals, and has been practicing for over 30 years. The facility is fully equipped with a new direct digital radiography, Spiral CT, Biosound Megas ultrasound (including PW, CW and color flow doppler technology), flexible endoscopes (including a 7.8mm Stortz gastrointestinal, 5.0 mm Stortz flexible bronchoscope and 1.7 mm flexible urethroscope), rigid scopes (including a 1.7 mm arthroscope, 2.7 mm arthroscope and a 5.0 mm laparoscope with laparoscopic surgical capabilities), in-house laboratory capability which includes an automated CBC, serum biochemical analyzer, electrolytes, blood gasses, and coagulometer, an automated Wright’s stainer is used for in-house cytologic staining, oximetry, Capnography, ECG, Doppler and oscillometric blood pressure. I-131 will also be available. Our in-house blood bank allows for unlimited supply of fresh, frozen plasma, packed RBC and cryoprecipitate for dogs and cats. Surgical capabilities include all soft tissue procedures of the head, chest and abdomen, as well as full orthopedics and neurosurgery. The new canine rehabilitation facility has a water treadmill, and is staffed by two CCRT and CCRA-certified canine rehabilitation therapists.
