Dr. Rebecca Ball joins Indianapolis Veterinary Referral
Indianapolis Veterinary Referral (IVR) has added general veterinary surgeon Dr. Rebecca Ball DVM, MS, DACVS to its staff.
An integral part of the Indianapolis Veterinary Emergency Center (IVEC), Central Indiana's original 24-hour emergency and critical care clinic, IVR provides the veterinary community with a reliable and affordable referral option for complex medical, surgical and critical care cases.
Dr. Ball earned her Bachelor of Science in Zoology from The Ohio State University and graduated from the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Immediately following graduation, she spent four years as a primary medical, surgical and emergency care physician for the military and working dogs. During that time, she also worked in multi-doctor small animal private practices, which provided care for 3,500-5,000 patients each year.
Dr. Ball was the primary Animal Medicine Trainer for the Southeast Regional Veterinary Command where she developed an instructional manual and taught weeklong courses on the topics of anesthesia, radiology, surgery, and general medicine.
From 2005 to 2006, she was involved in a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Minnesota.
In July 2009, Dr. Ball completed a three-year combined Small Animal Surgery Residency and graduate program at OSU, where she successfully finalized her Masters thesis. Along with research and writing, Dr. Ball carried a caseload that included soft tissue, orthopedic and neurological surgery, as well as instructing veterinary students and interns on basic surgical techniques.
Following the completion of her residency, she remained at OSU for a surgical fellowship and became ACVS-certified (American College of Veterinary Surgeons) in February 2010 before joining the staff at IVR, where her focus will be on general surgery.
