IVEC picks up four 'Best in Show' awards
Indianapolis Veterinary Emergency Center (IVEC) was a big winner in the inaugural Best in Show Industry Awards sponsored by Indianapolis Pet Quarterly (IPQ) magazine, with two first-place rankings, one second and a third.
Magazine readers voted IVEC's annual Original Pet Carnival as the "Best Summer 'Take Your Pet' Event." Last year's Pet Carnival, which featured over 40 exhibitors, attractions and competitions, drew an estimated 1200 guests, most accompanied by their pets (dogs, cats, ferrets, hamsters, even a parrot!). The 10th annual event will be held Saturday, July 12, from 11 am to 3 pm.
IVEC also scored a #1 ranking in the Best Industry-based Public Service category. The high rating recognizes numerous IVEC community initiatives including its Canine & Feline Blood Donor Program, collections of items needed by area shelters, and its Animal First Aid & CPR training for public safety agency personnel who work with K9 units.
The blood donor program provides dog and cat blood to clinics throughout the Midwest for use in surgeries, trauma cases and other treatments. The Animal First Aid & CPR initiative has trained over 120 public safety personnel in field first aid basics should their K9 partners be injured on the job. The training is offered at no cost to the officers or their agencies.
Other IVEC awards included a second-place for Best Veterinary Clinic (South) and a third-place for Best Pet Welfare Supporter (Veterinary Care). Results were published in the Fall 2007 issue of IPQ.
IVEC, founded in 1994, is Central Indiana's original 24-hour emergency and critical care clinic for pets. Well-known for its PET-E-911 emergency call line, IVEC relocated to a new, state-of-the-art, 21,000-square foot facility at 5425 Victory Drive in May.
